Needling Theory on Depth, Direction, and DeQi
by Christine Chang
Dr. Christine Chang explains what makes a "WOW" Acupuncture treatment using factors such as needle depth, direction, and "De Qi" sensation.
Needling Theory on Depth, Direction, and DeQi
Course Overview
Treatment results from practitioner to practitioner can vary greatly when treating a condition. Even more confounding is when treatment results vary when different practitioners treat the same patients with the same points, but somehow one practitioner’s treatment results in a “so-so” treatment, and the other produces a fantastic result. Dr. Chang will discuss the importance of needle depth, direction, and engaging the De Qi sensation as factors in creating a “Wow” treatment. Based on her years of clinical experience, she will help both new and experienced practitioners refine their needling techniques for more effective and consistent outcomes.Course Objectives
- Learn what causes pain in TCM so that you can effectively treat it clinically
- Learn the following needling techniques: deqi, quqi, liuqi, the concept of heaven, human and earth layers when inserting acupuncture needles, Dao Ma, Dong Qi and Qian Yin techniques
- How to effectively treat various types of pain and get quick results with your patients in clinic
- Review the TCM time clock and what this can tell us in the patient’s history of their presenting concern.

I recommend this course for anyone wanting new ideas on improving needling technique and effectiveness. It's also good for those of us who can use a reminder on distal point selection for pain issues. It's brief, informative and fun. Includes some good examples.Heidi A.United States
