Matt Callison, author of the Sports Medicine Acupuncture textbook is a frequent international lecturer and presenter at symposiums and doctoral programs worldwide. He is a pioneer in North America in the research and development of motor point acupuncture and treatment protocols. He is one of the first to combine sports medicine clinical applications and truly integrate them with traditional Chinese medicine. He is well-known for his work with professional athletes and in developing treatment strategies for the orthopedic injuries affecting the aging athlete. Matt Callison joins his colleagues Brian Lau and Ian Armstrong to present the SMAC Webinar program. This advanced training consists of four Modules and is designed as an intensive curriculum and sequential learning format. This webinar series prepares the practitioner for the “assessment and treatment of injury classes” found in each Module, which are taught as a live in-person course.In this Series, we are covering Module I: The Spinal Column.

Course Overview
This 2-day anatomy and cadaver webinar is an amazing integration of sports medicine functional anatomy and TCM sinews (jingjin) channel theory. Each day of this workshop is divided into distinct morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session consists of didactic presentations on Functional Anatomy and Anatomy of the Sinew Channels that are integrated to focus on the functional relationship between neuromuscular anatomy and the myofascial jingjin tissues and their relationship to the spinal column. This information is followed by the afternoon session that consists of: 1) Assessment, 2) Motor Point Location and Protocols, 3) Cadaver Presentations.Course Objectives
- Learn myofascial pathways that correlate with the spinal column and classical sinew channels of TCM and the tissues belonging to each sinew channel with their functional anatomy relationship.
- Learn in theory how to determine which my myofascial sinew channels need to be assessed and treated for musculoskeletal injury.
- Learn normal and abnormal movement patterns of the spinal column. Understand vertebral fixations and facilitated segments.
- The practitioner will learn nerve pathways, dermatomal distributions and muscle myotomes in relationship to channel topography.
- The practitioner will learn postural, functional and muscle imbalances that can lead to pain and dysfunction based on TCM theory.

This 2-day cutting-edge course will teach the practitioner how to assess postural dysfunction and prescribe therapeutic exercises for postural, muscle and channel imbalances that have directly contributed to the patient's musculoskeletal injury. This course will teach the acupuncturist important skills to prescribe specific exercises in the management of their patient’s health care. Exercising different body parts simultaneously in specific and coordinated motions activates the myofascial sinew channels so that form and function can align. Course Overview
Motor entry point locations and needle protocols will be shown for the muscles associated with vertebral and sacral fixations. The Psoas, Gluteus Maximus, Popliteus, Middle Deltoid, Lower Trapezius, Splenius Capitis, Semispinalis Capitis and Splenius Cervicis will be presented. In addition, supportive muscles for vertebral and sacral fixations will be presented such as the transversospinalis group located at the Huatuojiaji point, the suboccipital muscles, the longissimus thoracis (inner UB channel), iliocostalis thoracis (outer UB channel) and the levator scapula. The practitioner will see many motor entry points in human muscle tissue from AcuSport Education's cadaver dissections. Observing the motor nerve entrance into the muscle can help the practitioner enhance their skills and appreciation of needle depth.Course Objectives
